Little Lamb

I was going through my old files, and I found these of Katie. I had forgotten all about them, but they're so sweet! She just loved that pink lamb. I had a really hard time with this page. I had to start over several times (another benefit of digital scrapping). I'm definitely going to do my next page about Paul. He's way to cute to be neglected.

Songbird Avenue

I just found about about a really exciting project: Meredith Fenwick and Jan Crowley have set up a new site called "Songbird Avenue." Each month they will team up with a new digital designer, and 100% of the profits from their kits will go to a chosen charity. This month they've collaborated with the Shabby Princess (yea!!) and their charity of choice is The March of Dimes. They've created an absolutely gorgeous kit, Folk Art:

Isn't it just beautiful? So far, they've raised over $1800. Way to go, girls!

Babies and Gardens

I made this page over the weekend using one of Denise Bailey's kits, Blush. I love how this turned out. I especially like the lullaby in the corner. It just made the page for me. I also like the use of negative space. I think it really draws attention to the photo, which is one of my very favorites of Katie as a baby. I wish I could claim credit for the great design, but it's a lift of Emily Powers. Didn't it turn out great?

Also, we've firmed up some of our plans for our backyard. It's taken absolutely ages for us to decide what we really want to do. For those of you who participated in the Designers' Challenge, we WILL be giving out the prizes. We still haven't decided who won, but we will be making the announcement soon. We'll be using many of the pre-planned gardens from High Country Gardens (which is based in Santa Fe and has an extension in ABQ). We'll also have raised planters next to the house; one will be for herbs and the others for vegetables. We're also going to try growing cherries and plums. Hopefully I won't kill all my plants, since we haven't ever done anything like this before, but I'll do my best! I'll post some pictures as the work progresses.

Here's the Butterfly Garden that will go along the east wall:

In the north-east corner, under the crape myrtles, we'll have this xeric rose and perennial garden:

Along the north wall we'll plant this "Big Easy" xeric garden. I'm the least worried about this one; it has easy in the name, so it sounds great for us:

Finally, along the west wall we'll plant the Jumbo Waterwise Garden:

Hopefully we're not getting in over our heads. We spent a lot of time researching and planning, so hopefully that will all pay off!

Fairy Princess

Here's a new layout I finished today using Denise's Sugarplum kit. Her colors were just perfect for this picture. They're so soft and dreamy. This picture was taken last September. Katie's actually standing in our kitchen, and I'm sure she was asking for someone to get her some food. I really tried to experiment with this one and play around a bit. I'm not quite sure how I feel about it, but here it is...

Yea for me!

So I'm very excited--yesterday I was invited to join Denise Bailey's creative team. For you non-scrappers, basically what that means is any time Denise creates a new kit, she sends it to her CT to play with before she puts it in her store. We then send her any layouts we make with it, and she can say, "Look at what gorgeous things you can do with this!" Visit Denise's blog or store to check out all the fun things I'll be playing with!

Here's another layout I made yesterday. I pulled out some old pictures of Katie that went perfectly with Jessica Bolton's "Outnumbered Girl" kit. I just love the face that she's making here! It's priceless.

A Fun Layout

Here are some pictures that we took from our trip to San Diego last summer. For those of you that haven't been to Balboa park, I highly recommend it the next time that you're there. Nearly everything is free, and it's a beautiful place to go.

I'm about 6 months pregnant in these pictures, so it's weird for me to look at them now. It's also weird because my hair is so long there! I think I definitely prefer it short. It's much easier to take care of and I have more incentive to actually do it.
